Dear Residents, Here’s a brief snippet of what our Smethwick Neighbourhood Team have been up to this week: What’s been happening Smethwick town officers have had three stop and searches stolen cosmetics were recovered. This led to three arrests on suspicion of shop theft, one of them already being wanted for theft. This resulted in the suspect being charged. Victoria Park was visited by mounted unit and local officers conducted high visibility patrols with mounted units. During the patrols three people were detained for a S23 misuse of drugs act search. Smethwick town officers conducted a traffic operation this took place around Smethwick and Oldbury where several vehicles were seized for no insurance and several drivers reported for offences such as driving other than accordance with license, no seat belts / carrying passengers in dangerous manner. One of the drivers was disqualified and arrested. Driver was reported for causing obstruction by carelessly parking their vehicle by the Gurudwara. Officers have visited and engaged with children from STEPS educational centre and visited Gospel Hall on Windmill Shopping Centre, which is a warm space, for a coffee morning and engaged with residents. Penmakers Care and joined residents for Christmas Activities. Planned to visit Brushstrokes Community Café and Heritage Centre today. Smethwick town PCSO’s have conducted visits to places of worship across Smethwick reassuring our local communities who attend these places of worship. Local PCSO’s have visited nurseries around Smethwick speaking to the children around road safety and stranger danger. Smethwick town Officers have conducted burglary patrols on the run up to Christmas, keeping our local area safe and reassured. |
